The Triple Falls Trail: A Weekend to Remember

My daughter Maddy and I enjoying one of many Arkansas’s swimming holes.

Just a couple of weeks ago, I celebrated my birthday floating the Buffalo National River . The float trip was incredible and definitely the highlight of the weekend. However, I want to share another part of that trip that made it unforgettable.

While staying in Jasper, my family and I discovered the Triple Falls Trail, also known as Twin Falls by some locals. The trail was an easy hike, perfect for families or those looking for a quick adventure. Still, the views felt like something out of a nature magazine.

How to Get There from Jasper

Triple Falls is about a 10 minute walk from the parking lot next to the cub scout camp.

Finding the trailhead is simple and only takes about 10 minutes from downtown Jasper.

  1. Start from Jasper and head south on AR-7 for roughly 1 mile.

  2. Turn right onto Hwy 74 West and drive for 1.5 miles.

  3. Next, turn left onto Camp Orr Road (CR 79), a gravel road. It can be rough, so drive slowly.

  4. Follow Camp Orr Road for around 2.5 miles.

  5. You’ll see signage for the Kyle’s Landing area and Camp Orr Boy Scout Camp.

  6. Park in the gravel lot near the trailhead.

Once you’re parked, the trail is just a short walk—about a quarter mile—to the falls.

Why Triple Falls is So Special

The waterfalls are nearly 50 feet high and is one of the most iconic spots in the Natural State for photography opportunities.

The name “Triple Falls” comes from the unique rock formations that split the water into three cascades. Each drop is nearly 48 feet tall. The sound of rushing water, surrounded by towering bluffs and lush greenery, creates a peaceful atmosphere.

Moreover, the hike itself is incredibly manageable. The trail is flat and shaded, which is perfect for hot Arkansas days. When we visited, it was scorching outside. Yet, the cool water at the base of the falls was so refreshing.

My daughter Maddy and wife Dawna usually avoid cold water. Nevertheless, even they enjoyed dipping in the natural pool beneath the falls. It was the perfect way to cool down and soak up nature.

Tips for Visiting Triple Falls

Before you head out, consider these helpful tips to make the most of your visit:

  • Wear water shoes or sandals with grip.

  • Bring drinking water and snacks, especially on warm days.

  • A small towel or change of clothes will come in handy.

  • Visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon to avoid the midday heat.

  • Don’t forget your camera—the photo opportunities are endless!

Additionally, this area is pet-friendly. Just keep dogs leashed and be respectful of other hikers.

Other Nearby Attractions

While you’re in the area, don’t miss out on these nearby gems:

  • Buffalo National River: Excellent for floating, fishing, and kayaking.

  • Lost Valley Trail: A slightly longer hike featuring caves and waterfalls.

  • Downtown Jasper: Quaint and full of charm with shops, cafes, and local culture.

Thus, Triple Falls can easily be a part of a full day of outdoor fun.

Thoughts & Takeaways

And that will wrap things up for today.

Triple Falls Trail is more than just a short hike—it’s an experience that stays with you. The beauty, simplicity, and refreshing water make it a perfect stop in the Buffalo River region.

Above all, it’s a trail that allows families, including young kids, to connect with nature without exhaustion. The cascading waterfalls, especially after recent rains, are truly breathtaking.

That birthday weekend reminded me how special Arkansas’s natural spots really are. So, if you’re ever near Jasper, take the detour. Walk the trail. Dip your toes in the water. Breathe in the fresh Ozark air.

You won’t regret it.
