Hi there!

Today we are going to head out to Oklahoma City and visit a pumpkin patch.

A Family Farm in The Making

The Orr Family Farm is an experience that you get to see agriculture and entertainment come together for the ultimate fall event.

I think if you ask most Oklahomans, they will tell you that the fall comes first on the list when it comes to favorite times of the year.

I agree whole heartedly on this.

We love our football, our warm blankets, the cool and crisp air, and the activities that keep our families entertained along the way.

I probably left out delicious fall treats, but we will get to that later.

Pumpkin Patches have been around for quite some time now, but not all of them are created equal. Some have more to offer than others.

Some are very basic, which is ok.

But what if I told you there was a pumpkin patch right here in Oklahoma City that offered guests a true fall experience without breaking the bank.

Then the Orr Family Farm needs to be on your radar this fall.

A True Glamping Experience

Guests can rent Conestoga Wagons for an overnight glamping experience.

Do we have any glampers out there?

That’s right, I knew there was a few of you who might not like roughing it from time to time. That’s ok. There is nothing wrong with glamping.

Especially glamping in the Conestoga Wagons at the Orr Family Farm.

I’m not quite sure you can get more “Oklahoma” than staying with your loved ones in a covered wagon under the stars.

It’s time to channel that inner cowboy or cowgirl and stay the night in one of these covered wagons just like the pioneers did.

FYI, they do offer you complimentary s’mores when you stay in the Conestoga wagons.

The History of The Orr Family Farm

A deadly F-5 tornado came through Moore, Oklahoma and destroyed the farm in 2013.

Dr. Glenn Orr and his family started construction on the Orr Family Farm in 2003 and opened up its very first season in 2004.

His vision included the love he had for Oklahoma and his desire to provide a friendly and educational environment for children and family for all ages.

There is no doubt, he accomplished this mission.

This was also a family business in the making. The Orr’s son Tom and his wife Debbie, both who are graduates of Oklahoma University, have worked together to grow this unique business.

The first ten years of existence, they grew the business into one of the best pumpkin patches in the state.

But on the deadly day of May 20, 2013, a devastating F-5 tornado came through and carved up close to 10,000 plus homes with its damaging winds.

One of the businesses that was caught in the crosshairs that day was the Orr Family Farm.

Rebuilding a Dream

The Orr’s were committed to rebuilding their farm after the deadly 2013 tornado.

Not only did the Orr family lose their pumpkin patch, but they also lost one of their other businesses that day.

The Celestial Acres Training Center was a vital piece to the Orr’s success. The Celestial Acres Training Center was a thoroughbred horse training facility where perhaps dozens of horses were killed by the deadly tornado.

They lost approximately 172 stalls, Debbie Orr said.

In addition to the training center, the Orr’s also took another blow. They lost the indoor arena with several horses. Over 32 horses were severely injured and taken into care.

Immediately after the disaster, Orr had doubts of rebuilding.

This is when Oklahomans come together.

Mr. Orr had an overwhelmingly number of people that volunteered that summer and helped him rebuild the farm.

Instead of simply repairing what stood before, Orr went bigger and better. He doubled the size of his barns, and he was able to reopen 4 months later!
