The Best Tent Heaters for 2023

Often at times when we are braving the elements, it requires us to bring along a few extra camping essentials such as the tent heater.

These unique devices allow campers alike to extend their camping season, rather than having to hang it up once the snowfall starts.

Which is why I’m here today.

In this article, I will give you some of my favorite tent heaters on the market for 2023, that way when you decide to give winter camping a try, you will be able to stay safe and warm during the winter months.

Without further ado, let’s jump into the article!

Tent Heaters: The Best of 2023

Mr. Buddy MH9BX Heater

The Mr. Buddy MH9BX Heater has a great performance rating when it comes to great tent heaters.

The Mr. Buddy is a powerful heater that is propane-based that can heat an entire living room.

As a matter of fact, with over 9,000 BTU’s, this can comfortably heat up a 225 square foot shelter. It is designed to excel when it comes to high altitudes too.

My favorite feature on the Mr. Buddy is the fact that it has an oxygen depletion sensor and tip-over kill-switch so you can keep warm without worrying about your safety.

Sengoku Heatmate Portable Heater

Sengoku has an excellent customer service rating which has given them an impeccable reputation over the years.

For the majority part of the last 50 plus years, Sengoku has taken over the market on tent heaters.

For example, the heatmate portable heater, which puts out well over 10,000 BTU’s, can heat a wide area for over 13 plus hours.

With no refills might I add.

This excellent tent heater also comes with a tip-over sensor and a guaranteed two-year factory warranty that we can all get behind on.

Don’t fall asleep on the Martin Tent Heaters

The Martin tent heater is a favorite of backpackers alike.

I really like the Martin tent heaters and this is why.

They are efficient and are extremely lightweight.

Weighing less than 4.5lbs, this collapsible heater is perfect if you love backpacking during the winter months.

Its mantra is efficiency, and they are just that. 99.98% efficient. You get a whopping amount of output for BTU’s checking in over 3,000 stretching over 7 hours of time. A great option if you ask me!

The Best Electric Tent Heaters

Multifun Portable Heater

The Multifun Portable Heater.

If you’re looking for a tent heater with a low noise level, then this is the one for you!

The Multifun will not disturb your sleep, making it ideal for camping in the backcountry. This heater has great features that are user-friendly making this a great option for tent heaters.

It has a fire-retardant metal shell to protect you against overheating and tipping over. I like the fact that this heater doesn’t dominate the living space in your tent providing you extra warmth through the night.

Only drawback is the electrical outlet that is needed to get it going. But if you’re winter camping, might need to mix in a little bit of glamping to stay comfortable.

Best Budget-Friendly Tent Heater

The Amazon Basics Heater

The Amazon Basics heater is the most budget-friendly tent heater on the market.

Weighing less than 2lbs, the Amazon basics heater is the best budget tent heater on the market.

The mini heater measures approximately 6 inches in height, making this a great option for just about any office setting or camping situation.

While this may not have some of the heat output that the others mentioned here, I can promise you that it can deliver on a solo camping trip.

It can heat up instantly by the turn of the knob and is available in four different colors. I wish this heater had heat settings, but it is basic for a reason.

All in all, you get the bang for your buck on the Amazon Basic. It is less than 20 dollars and might be a great option for those who want to give the tent heater a try before investing a lot of your money on the others.

Thoughts & Takeaways

And that is going to wrap things up for today. Tent heaters have come along way with safety features and technology to keep us warm and safe in the backcountry. With so many to choose from, it can be overwhelming sometimes on choosing the one that is right for you. For me, it all depends on what you want to accomplish, if you’re camping with your family, then you might need something with a higher amount of BTU output to keep you warm and comfortable. For those who love to backpack and go on solo trips, then I would recommend something smaller that is compact and simple. Please share your favorite tent heaters in the comment section below.
