Hi there! Today I wanted to talk about a weekend in Arlington. Arlington, TX that is.
Arlington, Texas, is a city that knows how to have fun. Whether you’re a sports enthusiast, a foodie, or simply looking for a quick escape, Arlington offers it all. My wife, Dawna, and I needed a break from our busy lives in Norman, Oklahoma, so we planned a spontaneous trip to Arlington.
Moreover, our good friends, Brian and Sandra from Tyler, Texas, joined us for a memorable weekend. Naturally, we couldn’t resist the opportunity to catch a Texas Rangers game at the new Globe Life Field, and we made sure to indulge in some of Arlington’s best culinary offerings. Indeed, Arlington proved to be the perfect destination for a quick and fun-filled getaway.
Without further ado, let’s jump into the article!
We love the Texas Rangers, for a complete look at their schedule, check out their team page or MLB Schedules.
A Weekend in Arlington: MLB Fun
First and foremost, our main event was attending a Texas Rangers game. Since Globe Life Field opened in 2020, we’ve wanted to experience a game there. Previously, we had attended a few games at the old Ballpark in Arlington, but the intense Texas heat made those outings challenging.
Fortunately, Globe Life Field’s retractable roof offered a comfortable, climate-controlled environment, making the game enjoyable from start to finish. On Sunday, we watched the Texas Rangers take on my favorite team, the Boston Red Sox.
Although the home team lost 7-2, we still had a fantastic time watching some baseball. Additionally, the modern amenities and stunning design of the new stadium exceeded our expectations. As a result, we were able to fully immerse ourselves in the excitement of the game without worrying about the scorching sun. All in all, it was a wonderful experience, and we left the stadium already planning our next visit.
Pappasito’s Cantina
Who loves good Mexican food?
Then you came to the right place!
Afterward, we decided to satisfy our craving for Mexican food at Pappasito’s Cantina on Saturday afternoon. In fact, Arlington is home to numerous great restaurants, but Pappasito’s holds a special place in our hearts. Once again, the vibrant atmosphere and exceptional service blew us away.
From the sizzling fajitas to the refreshing margaritas, every bite and sip was a delight. Not to mention, the generous portions ensured that we left the restaurant feeling more than satisfied. Furthermore, the lively ambiance made it the perfect spot to relax and unwind after an exciting day of exploring Arlington.
Pappadeaux’s Seafood Kitchen
Since we are on the topic of food right now, I have to mention another sister company of our friend Pappasito’s Cantina. Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen.
This place truly rocks!
We couldn’t resist the temptation of fresh seafood, so we headed to Pappadeaux’s Seafood Kitchen on Saturday night. Although we’re not far from the coast, finding high-quality seafood in our area can be challenging.
However, Pappadeaux’s delivered an outstanding dining experience that rivaled any coastal restaurant. With dishes like blackened catfish, shrimp étouffée, and oysters on the half shell, our taste buds were in seafood heaven. As expected, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. Indeed, Pappadeaux’s is a must-visit for anyone craving top-notch seafood. That night we opted for the Mississippi Opelus, which was the blackened catfish topped with fresh shrimp and oysters over a bed of dirty rice. I’m sure a stick of butter was involved, but we didn’t care.
Buc-ee’s
On the way down, we made our customary stop at Buc-ee’s, a Texas institution that has become a ritual for us. For those who haven’t experienced it, Buc-ee’s is a gas station on steroids. From beef jerky to gummy candy, from apparel to seasoning salt, Buc-ee’s has it all. Moreover, the store’s massive size and endless variety make it more of a destination than a pit stop.
Additionally, the clean restrooms and friendly staff make every visit a pleasant one. Whether you’re in need of a quick snack or looking to pick up a unique Texas souvenir, Buc-ee’s is the place to go.
Arlington: A Perfect Escape
Finally, Arlington proved to be the perfect escape for us. Thanks to Dawna’s sister Rebecca, who kindly watched our daughter Maddy, we were able to enjoy a kid-free weekend. Without a doubt, we took full advantage of the opportunity to relax and reconnect with each other and our friends. In summary, the combination of a thrilling Rangers game, delicious meals, and quality time with loved ones made for an unforgettable weekend. Therefore, if you’re looking for a fun and easy getaway, Arlington should be at the top of your list.
Thoughts & Takeaways
And that will wrap things up for today. In conclusion, Arlington, Texas, is a city that offers something for everyone. Whether you’re catching a game at Globe Life Field, indulging in delicious Mexican food at Pappasito’s, savoring fresh seafood at Pappadeaux’s, or making a pit stop at Buc-ee’s, you’re sure to have a fantastic time. Above all, the city’s vibrant energy and welcoming atmosphere make it an ideal destination for a quick and fun-filled escape.
