About Me

Hey, my name is Chris Tate, and welcome to my blog!

Before I get started on what my blog is about, I wanted to explain a little bit about myself and what I stand for.

I was born in Missouri, but I spent the majority of my growing up years in Newcastle, OK. For the last 23 years I have called Norman, OK my home. Since then, I’ve been falling in love with the outdoors…Well, pretty much since I could walk.

I’ve taken part in pretty much everything you can think of during this time, from pike fishing in the Saint Croix River in Minnesota, to kayaking in Lake McDonald in Montana, to challenging waterfall hikes in the Williamette forest in Oregon.

But my local playground has always been in Oklahoma, and it’s one of the reasons I wanted to make this website.

For the past twenty years, I’ve been making frequent visits to all of Oklahoma’s state parks and reservoirs, and now, I’m ready to share some of my exciting experiences with you.

Over the years, I’ve gained a lot of valuable experience like navigating trails, several ways to build a campfire, tying superior knots, understanding weather conditions, and so much more.

And this is where my inspiration came from for this blog.

I wanted to share everything I learned during the many years on the water and on the trail.

So, what is this blog about?

What this Blog isn't

Hopefully, you have a good idea about me and what I want for this blog.
But I think it’s essential that I explain what this blog isn’t.

I don’t want this to be a place where I shamelessly try and sell you overpriced items that you don’t need.

I will mention some relevant items that you can use for specific situations from time to time. But I will never shove a bunch of products down your throat without even testing the products first.

That’s not who I am. I believe in being genuine and upfront with people that come to my blog and bring value to them.

If you’re looking for anything else, you’ve probably come to the wrong place.

I want this blog to bring out your inner adventurer, and an outdoor spirit you may or may not have known was there.
