Hi there! Today we are going to talk about the Snider Family Exotics.
Let me tell you, this place is a must-see park if you are in Southwestern Oklahoma.
This past Sunday, I had the pleasure of taking my five-year-old daughter Maddy to the Snider Family Exotic Park in Sterling, Oklahoma. We had visited the Oklahoma City Zoo and the Hochatown Petting Zoo several times, but this time, we wanted something different, something new. As we drove to the tiny town of Sterling, just east of Elgin, I knew we were in for an adventure.
The park didn’t disappoint. With a wide variety of animals, friendly staff, and well-maintained facilities, the Snider Family Exotic Park made our trip truly unforgettable. Moreover, their attention to detail and passion for wildlife shines through in every corner of the park.
Without further ado, let’s jump into the article!

The Snider Family Exotics: An Amazing Variety of Animals
The Snider Family Exotic Park features an incredible range of animals that you typically don’t see every day. From capybaras to zebras, camels, llamas, and even buffalo, the park offers an experience that goes far beyond the norm. Additionally, you can find more unique animals like otters, ostriches, armadillos, and spider monkeys. The capybara, which is related to the beaver family, is the world’s largest rodent. The park had what seemed like three capybaras in their enclosure, and they only allow four visitors inside at a time to ensure proper management. In fact, this careful attention to the animals and visitor experience sets the park apart.
Each area is conveniently sectioned off, making it easy for visitors to interact with the animals, especially during feeding times. The park offers feed cups for just $1, or larger cups for $5. We opted for the $5 cups with a $2 refill option, which I highly recommend. Not only does this make the experience more interactive, but it also gives you plenty of chances to get up close with the animals. Maddy was especially thrilled to interact with the buffalo and camels. It’s always a joy to watch her connect with animals, and the structured layout of the park made it even more enjoyable.
Friendly Staff Make the Experience Even Better
One of the highlights of the Snider Family Exotic Park is the incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable staff. Christina, the owner, was on site and took the time to chat with us about the park’s history and mission. She mentioned that the park has been open for five years and has become a popular destination for school field trips during the week. Not only that, but they also host a fun pumpkin patch every weekend in October. Plus, kids receive a free pumpkin with the price of admission, which adds even more excitement to the fall festivities.
Christina and her husband clearly know what they’re doing because the park is exceptionally well-managed and maintained. In addition, their love for animals and wildlife doesn’t go unnoticed. The staff ensures that every visitor feels welcome and safe while interacting with the animals, and they go above and beyond to make the experience as enjoyable as possible. If you’re planning a visit, take your time to indulge in this walk-through exotic park, and appreciate the care that has gone into every detail.
Affordable Fun for Families
When it comes to family outings, affordability plays a big role in the decision-making process. Thankfully, the Snider Family Exotics offers reasonable prices for a full day of fun. General admission is only $12 for adults and $8 for kids, making it an accessible option for families. With that said, the park is open every weekend from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., so planning a visit is easy.
As an added bonus, there are opportunities to feed the animals throughout the park, which Maddy loved. The feed cups are available for $1 or $5, and the $5 cups offer the best value with a $2 refill option. Interacting with the animals while feeding them is an experience that adds a deeper connection to the trip. It’s not every day you get to engage with such a variety of creatures, and at such a fair price, it’s an experience worth every penny.
Perfect for a Weekend Outing
Located in the small town of Sterling, Oklahoma, the Snider Family Exotic Park is the perfect weekend getaway. In addition to the animals, the peaceful setting and laid-back vibe made the trip relaxing for both me and Maddy. The park offers an interactive, walk-through experience that allows visitors to get closer to the animals than at most larger zoos. Furthermore, because Sterling is just a short drive from Elgin, it’s easy to plan for a quick day trip without too much travel hassle. Whether you’re looking to escape the city for a few hours or want to introduce your kids to some unique animals, this park is a fantastic option.
If you’re visiting during October, make sure to check out their pumpkin patch, which adds a festive touch to the park experience. On top of that, each child gets a free pumpkin with their admission, making the event even more family friendly. The fact that they host field trips and seasonal events highlights how committed they are to fostering a love for wildlife in their community.
Thoughts & Takeaways
And that will wrap things up for today. Our day at the Snider Family Exotics was a memorable one, filled with exciting animal encounters and friendly faces. The park’s variety of animals, from camels to otters, made the trip both educational and fun. Moreover, the staff’s hospitality and love for animals really made the experience stand out. If you’re in Oklahoma and searching for a different type of animal adventure, I highly recommend visiting this hidden gem. Whether you’re stopping by for a quick trip or looking to spend the day, this park has something special for every family. In the end, it’s the combination of unique animals, friendly staff, and affordability that makes the Snider Family Exotic Park a must-visit destination.
