This lake is on the Northern edge of the State Park, and it is beautifully located in a remote wooded forest.

Not too shabby if you ask me!

If I’m being honest here, nothing beats a quiet campground combined with stunning scenery.

 

 

The History of Robbers Cave

 

The history of Robbers Cave State Park goes back to the late 1800’s when this area was inhabited by the infamous outlaw Jesse James and his gang of bandits.

Legend has it that James and his cohorts used the cave as a hideout from the law, and that the area was the site of numerous robberies and shootouts.

 

 

However, the park’s history goes back even further than the days of Jesse James.

Archaeological evidence suggests that the area was inhabited by Native American tribes for thousands of years.

Well, that makes perfect sense once you make your way onto these trails.

The trails inside Robbers Cave would make this an ideal place for shelter, hunting and spiritual practices.
