The Top 7 Things to Do in Hochatown

#1. Zip-Line Across Broken Bow Lake.

Zip-lining is one of several fun outdoor activities you can try out while visiting Hochatown.

How does spending a day zip-lining over a gorgeous lake sound to you? My wife Dawna and I absolutely fell in love with zip-lining when we were in Colorado years ago.

Rugaru Adventures welcomes people of all ages to come out and experience its spectacular six-line zip-line tour. This is one of the prettiest places in Oklahoma and you can take advantage zip-lining over a lake and through a forest for some fantastic views.

Not only can you achieve dizzying heights from its tree-topped cliffs, but you can also enjoy a panoramic, bird’s eye view of the lake, cliffs, and alpine forest all the way down.

#2. Visit the Hochatown Rescue Center & Petting Zoo.

The petting zoo in Hochatown is one of the many fun things to do in the area.

The Hochatown Rescue Center & Petting Zoo is where animal lovers meet pet friendly reptiles, exotic singing birds, and adorable barn animals.

As a matter of fact, you will have the opportunity to come across hedgehogs, donkeys, and baby goats roaming around.

This is ideal for your kids. All of the animals here are not shy and will happily receive a treat from anyone passing by.

I recommend going early during the day during the summer months, as it gets hot quick in this part of the state. The Petting Zoo is a can’t miss activity when you visit Hochatown.

They are open every day of the week from 10-7.

#3. Go through the Maze.

The Maze in Hochatown is designed for people of all ages.

The Maze of Hochatown is 29,000 square feet of family fun. This park attraction is one of a kind here in Oklahoma.

You will have fun going through the wooded, outdoor maze while searching for hidden stamps throughout the journey.

Even if you go during the hot summer months, the Maze has water stations and misting water fans to keep you cool during the journey.

What makes this place awesome is the fact they have a knowledgeable and friendly staff. If you think it will be easy to get through, think again. Expect to do a lot of walking so wear those comfy shoes when you try the Maze. It takes about 1.5 to 2 hours to gain all the stamps and find all the towers.

Whether you go in a large group or a small group, this will be a fun activity for you to try out.

#4. Spend the Day at Beaver’s Bend Mining Company.

The Beaver’s Bend Mining Company is a great activity for kids of all ages.

The Beaver’s Bend Mining Company is must-see entertainment in Hochatown if you have kids. This place will keep your kids busy with mining for treasure, making wax hands, and playing on a life-size pirate ship.

This place is also the stop for all of your souvenirs.

Beaver’s Bend Mining Company has a fun miniature golf course along with a life-size pirate ship for the kids to play on.

Your kids will enjoy the afternoon sifting for fossils and arrowheads. As a matter of fact, they will give you a bag full of dirt that contains the fossils and arrowheads mixed in.

They also provide bags to take home their findings. Your kids are guaranteed to find something good here.

The Beaver’s Bend Mining Company also has an incredible staff. The owners did a great job explaining everything about the process. The owners also offered to hang on to the molds while we finished up some shopping in town so they wouldn’t get soft in the heat.
